Date: 19970921 From: "Carlos Rodriguez Llodrá" To: Multiple recipients of list CHIPDIR-L Subject: RV: PCI controller I need a basic and easy-to-use PCI controller, and if possible, in PLCC package (instead QFP). I have seen AMCC's S5933, but it's too 'big', and it's 160-pin QFP... TIA. Carlos Rodriguez From: Elbert Smit Hi There! I don't know if you are experimenting with PCI, or making your own design. But you might use the AMCC matchmaker developers kit. It comes with some breadboards and a PCI card with AMCC chip to make your own application at the ADD-ON site of the S5933. It gives you a pretty speedy start on PCI. After all, it's complex enough ;-) Take a look on the AMCC website to see if you can use it. It costs about $500. Regards, Elbert Smit. From: Rick Collins I don't think you are going to find a PCI interface in a small package like you are looking for. I haven't checked thoroughly, but I would bet that the PCI interface requires too many pins to fit in a small package. One way you could get it in a PLCC is to use a Xilinx chip and program it to be your PCI interface controller. In fact you can buy a basic PCI interface design from Xilinx. If you would like some help with this approach I have experience with programming Xilinx parts. Send me an email. Rick Collins re:DSP, A Signal Processing Solutions Company P.O. Sorry I do not have their Internet Web sites URL's.
