PCB's and products on behalf of other companies

(These services is also called 'electronics manufacturing services' (EMS).)

This page will contain companies that assemble products for other companies. Big companies like IBM and HP for example don't assemble their PC's themselves but have specialized companies do it, so they can concentrate on the marketing and selling process.

Other reasons to have a partner do the assembly is because they are more specialized for it or because they are cheaper because they use plants in lower-wage countries or because they have plants near the markets where the products will be sold.

When I still worked for an OEM some years ago we used to have products assembled by a governmentally organized institutian where mentally challenged people worked ('Sociale Werkplaats'). I always doubted if that was a good idea, politically as well as practically, but it may be a thing to consider when you need small amounts and having it done very far is to expensive. You'll have to supervise the people a lot though...
