Chip Directory Review
This site contains numerically and functionally ordered chip lists, chip
pinouts and lists of chip manufacturers, manufacturers of controller
embedding tools, electronics books, CD-ROMs, magazines, WWW sites
and related information. The first two things to note about it are that it has
obviously been professionally designed and that there are a large number
of mirror sites in different parts of the world, with guidance on accessing
them. Then, when you have chosen the right mirror (and the home site
listed here seemed to be reacting quite fast), and you have transferred to
the main page, almost the first thing you see is a search box to find the chip
you are interested in. There are also what are effectively indexes organized
in different ways by, for example, family, function, name, number, pinouts,
prefixes and postfixes. There is also a section 'How to get more data about
a chip, once you found it here?' [sic], a questions forum and much other
related information, including links to manufacturers. The presentation is
clear and the download time fast. Not so much 'chips with everything' as
'everything about chips'!
